Cleanroom Tables - Eagle - Type 304 Stainless Steel - Solid Stainless Steel Top - Wiped Down and Packaged - "H" Frame - EA-CRTxxxxT-H

The cleanroom tables are manufactured from Type 304 stainless steel. This is the most common type of stainless steel used for cleanroom tables.  All clean room tables are shipped knocked down with legs that bolt on reducing the freight costs and the potential for freight damage.  The tables listed have a lower "H" frame base.  An optional "C" frame is available at no additional charge.  Cleanroom stainless steel tables have a solid top with rolled front and back edge. Cleanroom tables are alcohol wiped down and bagged before shipping.

WHAT TYPE OF STAINLESS STEEL TABLE IS RIGHT FOR YOUR CLEANROOM?
The stainless steel tables are manufactured from different types of gauges or thickness of stainless along with the type of stainless.  Stainless steel is not a single alloy, but a group of iron-based alloys containing a minimum of 10.5% chromium. Other elements are added and the chromium content increased to improve the corrosion resistance. The three main types of stainless steel seen in the lab and cleanroom industry are types 304, 316 and 430.  304 stainless steel is the basic chromium Nickle austenitic stainless steel and is readily available.  Type 304 has good resistance to corrosion and is a non-magnetic steel.

Type 316 stainless steel is used for critical environments that require a higher level of resistance to corrosion than type 304 can offer.  Type 316 is also austenitic, non-magnetic, with a carbon content held to 0.08% maximum, while the Nickle content is increased slightly.  What distinguishes Type 316 from Type 304 is the addition of molybdenum up to a maximum of 3%.  Molybdenum increases the corrosion resistance of this chromium-Nickle alloy to withstand attacks by many industrial chemicals and solvents, plus inhibits pitting caused by chlorides.  Molybdenum is one of the single most useful alloying additives in the fight against corrosion.

Because of the molybdenum addition, Type 316 stainless steel can withstand corrosive attacks by sodium and calcium brines, hypochlorite solutions, phosphoric acid and sulfurous acids. Type 316 is specified for equipment in the medical industry, pharmaceutical manufacturing and sterile areas.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN TYPE 304 AND TYPE 316 STAINLESS STEEL
• Both 304 and 316 are easily welded and formed
• Both types are non-magnetic
• 304 is made up of 18% chromium, 316 contains 17% chromium
• 304 contains no trace of molybdenum, 316 contains 2.1% molybdenum
• The biggest difference between the grades is molybdenum is added to Type 316 to increase corrosion and pitting resistance
