The 316 stainless steel gowning benches are made for the stringent pharmaceutical cleanroom environments. Solid gowning benches feature legs with flange stainless steel feet, front-to-back cross bracing, and a 14 gauge stainless steel seat. Special attention is made to ensure welds are smooth and clean. The flange feet which can be bolted to the floor.

Gowning benches or swing over benches are manufactured in either Type 304 or Type 316 stainless steel. Stainless steel is not a single alloy, but a group of iron-based alloys containing a minimum of 10.5% chromium. 304 is the basic chromium nickle austenitic stainless steel with good resistance to corrosion and is a non-magnetic steel. 

316 stainless steel is used for critical environments that require a higher level of resistance to corrosion than 304 can offer. Type 316 is also austenitic, non-magnetic, with a carbon content held to 0.08% maximum, while the nickle content is increased slightly. What distinguishes Type 316 from Type 304 is the addition of molybdenum up to a maximum of 3%. Molybdenum increases the corrosion resistance of this chromium-nickle alloy to withstand attacks by many chemicals and solvents, plus inhibits pitting caused by chlorides.  Molybdenum is one of the single most useful alloying additives in the fight against corrosion.

The molybdenum addition to type 316 stainless steel gives the metal the ability to withstand corrosive attacks by sodium and calcium brines, hypochlorite solutions, phosphoric acid and sulfurous acids. Type 316 is specified for equipment in the medical industry, pharmaceutical manufacturing and sterile areas.

Shipping Instructions: The three smaller size 316 stainless steel gowning benches (36", 48" and 60") will ship UPS or FedEx.  Ships in one box. Gowning bench weights: 36" = 28 lbs., 48"= 34 lbs., 60" = 41 lbs., 72" = 48 lbs., 84" = 54 lbs. The 72" and 84", as well as orders with multiple gowning benches will ship by common carrier truck. The order can ship collect or prepay and add to the invoice. If shipping collect, add your freight account number in the “Comments Box” when checking out. Customer is responsible for the freight charges.
