An air shower can be installed at the entrance to a controlled environment or as a stand alone air shower to reduce contamination as workers enter or exit the production area. The air shower is a valuable health and safety piece of equipment used in various industrial activities that produce toxic particles. A s an example Crystalline Silica is invisible to the naked eye and when inhaled causes serious if not fatal illness such as silicosis, tuberculosis infection and kidn

Air Shower: A self-contained air circulation system installed at the entrance to a controlled environment or as a stand alone air shower to reduce contamination as workers enter or exit the production area.  The air shower is a valuable health and safety piece of equipment used in various industrial activities that produce toxic particles. A s an example Crystalline Silica is invisible to the naked eye and when inhaled causes serious if not fatal illness such as silicosis, tuberculosis infection and kidney disease.  High velocity air removes the particles from the garments before workers can exit the production area.

Cleanroom Air Shower: Protects the clean room environment from unwanted contamination.  Air Showers can greatly enhance the clean rooms performance by removing surface contamination from clean room garments.  High velocity HEPA filtered air flows through adjustable nozzles.  The air is recirculated back to the high pressure blower where it is prefiltered than HEPA/ULPA filtered and ducted back to the adjustable nozzles.

Stainless Steel Air Shower: The Pharmaceutical industry has stringent requirements to maintain a sterile facility.  A stainless steel exterior and interior allows the air shower to be wiped down with a sterile disinfectant. Air shower shell options:
● Type 304 #4 finish stainless steel walls and cabinet
● Type 316L 2b finish stainless steel walls and cabinet
● Type 304 #4 finish stainless steel pharmaceutical package

Cleanroom or Clean Room: A controlled environment that has HEPA or ULPA filtered air entering the room.  The cleanroom is classified by the number of micron size particles per cubic meter.  Industries which use cleanrooms range from plastic injection molding, aerospace, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, research labs, medical device and compounding pharmacies.

Softwall Clean Room: A portable free standing frame which requires only the building floor to support the ceiling grid system.  Curtains mounted to the perimeter of the frame direct the ceiling HEPA  filtered air down to the floor and exits under the curtains. Curtain material is made from standard clear vinyl, ultra low outgassing vinyl or polyester cleanroom fabric.

Vinyl Curtain Cleanroom: Also referred to as a softwall cleanroom

Portable Cleanroom: A softwall cleanroom with casters on the legs to allow the room to be disconnected from the power and easily moved to another location. These softwall cleanrooms provide the perfect pop-up cleanroom solution.

Hardwall Cleanroom: Constructed of materials ranging from sheet rock, acrylic panels or aluminum insulated panels.  All cleanrooms use HEPA or ULPA filter modules to reduce the number of particles.  The cleanroom will have a gowning room or ante-room that personnel will donn garments or wipe down equipment before it enters the cleanroom.

Modular Clean Room: Vertical flow cleanroom systems are pre-engineered and prefabricated for easy assembly.  Modular sections are designed to allow for future expansion, remove and re-configure sections for a process change or completely disassembly and relocate to another facility. The free standing cleanrooms require only a solid level floor for support. The optional prefab wiring kit comes with a junction box with filters and lights all prewired.  One connection is required from the building to the junction box.

USP 797  Clean Room: USP797 refers to chapter 797 “Pharmaceutical Compounding – Sterile Preparations” in the USP National Formulary.  It is the first set of enforceable sterile compounding standard issued by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP).  USP 797 provides guidelines, procedures and compliance requirements for compounding sterile preparations and sets standards which sterile preparations are compounded.  The cleanroom acts as a buffer room around the biological safety cabinet or laminar flow hood.  Room features a smooth floor, walls and ceiling with proper vents.  The HEPA filters control the cleanliness and air pressure creating the ISO Class 7 environment.

HEPA Filter For Cleanrooms: A High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) is an air filter.  The filter must remove 99.97% o f particles with a size of 0.3 micron or larger.

ULPA Filter: An Ultra Low Particulate Air (ULPA) Filter removes 99.999% of particles 0.12 micron or larger.

Cleanroom Filters: Specialty filters used in lab or cleanroom environments ro remove particles or fumes.  Filter types include: prefilters, HEPA, ULPA, acid gas, activated charcoal, ammonia gas, formaldehyde, mercury and radioactive iodine.

Fan Filter Unit or FFU: A fan attached to a 2’x2’ or 2’x4’ sheet metal frame containing a HEPA or ULPA filter.  Used in a wide variety of laboratories applications and clean room ceilings.  The filter has a top side prefilter and protective screen over the filter.

Motorized HEPA Filter or MCF: Another name for the Fan Filter Unit, FFU or Motorized Ceiling Filter

HEPA Filter Module: A self contained High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter (HEPA) fan filter unit used in a ceiling or over the top of equipment to create a cleanroom environment.  The filter module is also available with an air duct collar and no fan.

Terminal HEPA Filter: Designed to provide HEPA or ULPA filtered air from a tee-bar ceiling.  Standard filters are available 2’x2’ or 2’x4’ with a 10” diameter collar.  The collars are connected to a duct which is supplied air from a large central blower.

Ceiling HEPA Filter Air Conditioning  Unit: A fully integrated modular environmental system specifically designed and manufactured for the general cleanroom industry.  A motorized HEPA filter is mounted directly into the unit which controls temperature and humidity.  Available in ½ to, 1 and 2 ton configurations. The multi-panel design allows for variable duct connections making it ideal for plenum, once-through and re-circulating installations used in softwall cleanrooms, upgrades, problematic areas, additions, spot cooling, and process isolator applications.

Laminar Flow Hood: An enclosed bench designed to provide a HEPA or ULPA filtered work station. Air moves through the filter in a smooth straight air flow without gaps creating a “Laminar” air stream. Hoods can have vertical or horizontal air flow.

Laminar Flow Clean Bench:  Another name for a Laminar Flow Hood

Horizontal Laminar Flow Hood:  HEPA or ULPA filters are at the back of the cabinet and flow across the work area toward the operator.  Hoods are available with an attached table or without a table. When vibration is a concern the laminar flow hood should have a table which is not attached or the motor/blower vibration will transfer to the work surface.

Vertical Laminar Flow Hood:  HEPA or ULPA filters are above the work area and flow down toward the work space. Hoods are designed in a number of styles to meet a wide range of requirements:
Mode “O” Open = Open Base no table
Mode “WO” Wash Out = Attached solid table
Mode “WT” Wash Thru = Attached perforated table
Mode “ER” Exhaust Recirculated = A portion of the air is exhausted out the back and also recirculated
Mode “E” Exhaust = All of the air is exhausted out the back

Economical Horizontal Laminar Flow Hood: The HEPA filter has a simple enclosure with acrylic side shields and top.  The cabinet sits on a standard table.
Portable Laminar Flow Hood: The hood has casters attached to the base for easy mobility.

Stainless Steel Laminar Flow HoodBody of the laminar flow hood is made of stainless steel which allows the cabinet to be wiped down with a sterile disinfectant.

Economical Laminar Flow HoodHEPA filter has a painted steel shroud which sits on standard Metro Wire posts and shelves.  Vinyl is attached to the shroud to enclose the hood and provide a ISO 5 or Class 100 work station.

Desiccator Cabinet or Dry Box: A sealed enclosure used for preserving moisture sensitive items preventing oxidization.  The cabinet would either contain a desiccant such as “silica gel” or can be closed and purged with nitrogen. The cabinet will have between one to five individual compartments and made of stainless steel or acrylic.

Stainless Steel Desiccator Cabinet:   Inert atmosphere cabinets are designed to create sealed compartments that will hold or contain parts in a dry or nitrogen environment. The desiccator cabinets are constructed with a heavy-gauge, stainless steel outside shell and a stainless steel divider between each compartment. Each compartment is sealed to form a pressurized storage space. The stainless steel shell creates a strong, durable cabinet that will not crack or break apart at the seams. Construction is suitable for heavy storage loads and areas concerned with ESD.

Acrylic Desiccator CabinetClear acrylic cabinet has easy open doors with warp-proof protection.  Doors are sealed with closed cell foam to ensure a tight seal.  Desiccator cabinets have one, two or three compartments.

Powder Containment HoodMini containment hood is designed for use where space is at a premium. The hood is suitable for adsorption of organic vapors and trapping airborne powders or particulates. A fan speed control permits continuous adjustment of face velocity and airflow.
The blower unit is made up of three sections which attach together with a simple latching mechanism. The latches allow for easy filter replacement and maintenance.

Fume HoodThe polypropylene, stainless steel or fire retardant polypropylene fume hoods provide maximum chemical resistance. Safeguarding the operator is the price concern in the design of the fume hood. An extensive list of options is available to adapt each fume hood to its particular application.

Fume Extractor: Portable fume extractor is an inexpensive solution to all small scale, yet potentially hazardous fume and particle problems.  Ideal for a work space that is too small for a conventional fume hood.  The units can be table top or wall mounted with a 530 cfm blower. Choose between one or two intake scoops. The five foot heavy duty flex hose can easily be moved to capture the contaminant at the source.

Chemical Fume Extractor:  Another name used for a Fume Extractor

Chemical Fume Hood:
Laboratory fume hoods are an effective way to control exposure to offensive, toxic or flammable vapors, aerosols and gases.  Corrosive volatile or obnoxious substances should always be isolated in a chemical fume hood area.  Hoods are available in a number of sizes and are custom outfitted to meet specific needs.

Cleanroom Pass Through or Pass Thru:  A pass through is used for transferring parts in and out of the cleanroom.  They reduce the need for people to enter the cleanroom.  An optional mechanical interlock allows only one door to be opened at a time.  This prevents a pressure drop within the cleanroom.  Available in stainless steel, acrylic or polypropylene.

Acrylic Pass ThroughThe clear acrylic pass through chamber is an economical choice. Designed with warp-proof doors, wall mounting flanges and wire side brackets to hold shelves.

Stainless Steel Pass Through or Pass Thru:  Stainless steel provides a strong and durable pass through suitable for a variety of cleanrooms.  The mechanical interlock only allows one door to be opened at a time which controls the contaminates along with the room pressure.  A mounting frame seals the pass through to the wall.  Pass throughs can be customized with vertical doors, horizontal doors, shelves, and multiple compartments.

Cleanroom Cart Pass Through: Designed for transfer of parts and equipment on a cart in and out of a cleanroom.  They reduce the need for people to enter the cleanroom.

Lead Lined Pass ThroughLead lining is used as radiation protection to people in medical or pharmaceutical applications. When the radiation attempts to pass through the lead the electrons are absorbed. The stainless steel shell encapsulates thick QQ-L-201F Certified Grade B Lead Sheets.

Polypropylene Pass Through:  Polypropylene is resistant to many chemical solvents, bases and acids. The economical pass through is made of polypropylene material and tempered safety glass window in the doors.

Fire Rated Pass ThroughStainless Steel construction with 90 minute white painted steel fire rated door with a white painted steel door frame, 10”x10” clear wire safety glass viewing window, steel butt hinge and chrome plated door handle.

HEPA Filtered Pass Through: When particle control is critical in the cleanroom the pass through can use HEPA filtration. The pass through draws air from the cleanroom side into the HEPA filter.  A sensor installed on the door activates the motor and the HEPA air removes the particles that have entered the pass through.  Shown with an optional 90 door.

The cleanroom and equipment design is critical to maintaining the low particulates. Without high quality cleanroom equipment the environment can be compromised. For additional product information visit our web site www.CleanRoomWorld.com or call 303-752-0076.
