The horizontal laminar flow hoods are a general purpose clean bench ideally suited to many types of mechanical or processing work. It is designed to provide a ISO 5 Class 100 or ISO 4 Class 10 clean air environment suitable for laboratory work, testing, manufacturing, inspection and/or pharmaceutical operations.

The clean benches have an open front area so it can be placed in front of a piece of equipment or used with a stand alone table. The stand alone isolation table is ideal in applications where vibration isolation is required. Such applications are microscope viewing, critical measuring or other vibration sensitive work.

The clean HEPA filtered air flows outward from the cabinet. This horizontal laminar flow air washes out particulates and prevents contamination from entering the clean work zone.  The laminar flow workstation features "clean edge" construction that puts the hood and table top in shear with the media edge of the HEPA filter. This reduces turbulence along the sides of the hood, improves the laminar flow, and prevents contamination infiltration around the perimeter of the hood.

FILTRATION SYSTEM 
A flex duct system provides air flow from the blower to the HEPA filter. The ducting system in conjunction with the cabinet blower provides a negative pressure area on the cabinet interior. The negative pressure serves as a safety seal that prevents gasket leaks which can occur in positive pressured filter systems. The air flow is factory set at an average filter face velocity of approximately 90 FPM. This velocity is maintained by adjusting blower speed as filter pressure increases with use. The removable 1 inch fiberglass prefilter is located on the front lower cabinet and is access from the hinged prefilter grills. The air flows through the HEPA filter with an efficiency of 99.99% on 0.3 microns and larger. The standard HEPA filters have an aluminum anodized frame, painted white metal face guard and mini pleated fiber media construction. Filters are removable through the table top enclosed area. An optional ULPA filter can be ordered which has an efficiency of 99.999% on .12 microns. 

SOUND LEVEL
The typical sound level is approximately 65 dbA. Larger size units and those with multiple blowers may have a slightly higher sound level. The sound levels area measured with ambient of 55dbA. The sound level may vary depending on the size of the unit, surrounding room size and acoustics.

ELECTRICAL
The electrical requirement is 120 volt, single-phase, 3 wire system with 8 foot flex power cord or hard wiring exiting the back side of the clean bench. The motor speed is variable with a solid state controller. The electrical outlet is a 15 amp duplex installed under the table top on the lower right side. and used for auxiliary equipment. The power available for this receptacle is 3 amps, unless otherwise specified. The clean bench has independent motor and light on/off switches. The direct drive motor and dynamically balanced blower assembly is isolated from cabinet by rubber mounts and by the HEPA filter flex duct system. The system meets requirements  of the NEC electrical codes and includes UL recognized components. Some units are UL listed. 

MOTOR/BLOWER
The clean bench utilizes a PSC direct drive motor with a dynamically balanced blower wheel. The assembly is double vibration isolated from the cabinet to provide excellent vibration control. The motor is vibration isolated from the blower by multiple rubber isolation mounts. The blower/motor assembly is again vibration isolated from the cabinet by a second set of vibration isolation mounts. However, it is recommended if working with extremely vibration sensitive equipment, such as a microscope, that a model CAP-303 is ordered. This clean bench uses an independent table which slides in front of the HEPA filter. This results in no vibration transferring from the clean bench to the work surface. Each clean bench is sized for reserve capacity to ensure a long HEPA filter life. The motor speed control is mounted on the side of the blower and can be adjusted to compensate for extra pressure drop caused by loading or contamination build-up on the HEPA filter surface. 

WORK AREA TOP AND SIDE ENCLOSURE PANELS
There are polycarbonate side panels at each end of the table top. These panels are table top width and extend to the top of the unit where they join the top enclosure panel. These panels are attached together to form a one piece enclosure. which is fastened to the cabinet.

DIMENSIONS
The acrylic hood is 21.5 inches deep with an aluminum extrusion on the bottom edge. The unit is designed to have an optional table set slightly below but not touching the underside of the bottom extrusion. The underside of the extrusion is at 30.0 inches from the floor +/- 0.5 inches with leg levelers.
